The DPKV Today

In addition to bus routes, cable cars—which are very specific to Karlovy Vary—are an integral part of public transportation. They have a long-standing tradition and are popular here, especially among tourists visiting the city. Cable cars operate at two locations. The first connects Divadelní náměstí and the Imperial Hotel, while the second connects the Grandhotel Pupp and the Diana Lookout Tower.

 

Currently, the Karlovy Vary Transport Company is focusing on modernizing its services and infrastructure to better meet the needs of both local residents and visitors to the city. Here is an overview of the current status:

1. Fleet Modernization: DPKV is investing in the modernization of its fleet to ensure reliable and comfortable transportation for passengers. This includes the purchase of new buses with a focus on safety, comfort, and the environment.

2. Payment system innovations: We are implementing modern payment systems that allow passengers to pay for tickets contactlessly using various payment cards or mobile phones. This simplifies the ticket-purchasing process and enhances passenger comfort.

3. Improving accessibility: We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our vehicles and stops so that public transportation is available to all citizens, including those with limited mobility. This includes purchasing so-called low-entry vehicles to make it easier for passengers with limited mobility or those with strollers to board and exit. We are proud to have 100 % barrier-free public transport.

4. Environmental Protection: We are active in the field of environmental protection and strive to minimize the negative impacts of our operations on the urban environment. This includes efforts to reduce vehicle emissions and support eco-friendly alternative fuels. The Karlovy Vary Public Transport Company thus strives to provide modern and efficient public transport services that meet the needs and expectations of passengers in today’s environment.
